How it felt to be a part of this whole venture –
Volunteers speak
This was the first SPICMACAY Virasat of our lives. The only missing detail in the previous sentence is that we organized it. There were falls, and some more falls, but we rose above them all as a team. The insight that we have gained into our strengths and weaknesses as managers, and as humans, could have been only possible by getting involved with such an intense program.
Dr. Sonal Mansingh's grace and precision was the most striking of her artistic expression. The hardest of taskmasters, she taught us how important detailing is in the presentation of her dance. She also elucidated the joy of being one with her art and the immense pleasure she gains from interacting with students eager to learn. From Pandit Kaivalya Kumar and Mrs. Manjari Asanare-Kelkar, we learnt how the human voice is the greatest of instruments and how one should enjoy the beauty of Khyal Music.Shashank's flute left us spellbound and made us believe in god.
Along with this, his use of technology demonstrated how tradition and progression can coexist. The folk dance troupes of Purulia Chau and Siddi Dhamal were energetic and they electrified the stage and enthralled the audience. Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and his virtuosity over his instrument spoke volumes of his dedication to his art. He very enthusiastically answered questions of a curious audience and encouraged us all to delve deep into art.Pandit Pushpraj Koshti was nothing but the greatest demonstration of a dying art. He effortlessly projected the importance of that instrument in the aesthetic of Hindustani musical presentation. Lastly, Ustad Kamal Sabri moved our hearts, nerves and sinew with his incredible command over the Sarangi and his heartfelt renditions of ragas and folk tunes alike.
This entire festival was an experience that all of us shall cherish, as organizers and as audiences. The appreciation from the artists and audience has motivated us all to keep progressing with SPICMACAY and provide others the opportunity to gain the benefits that we've experienced in such a short span of time.ere to edit.
